Please welcome Amanda Walters to our Design Team! Here’s a little bit about her!

I was born in Wheaton, Illinois, but I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. I have an older brother who lives in Seattle and two amazing parents who still reside in Omaha. Most people say I look and act just like my dad. We were always the adventurous ones in the family so we would go on an annual ski/snowboarding trip every year, spend weekends boating and wakeboarding at the lake house, and most recently we started riding dirt bikes together. Yes, my dad is almost 60 and he races dirt bikes. After high school, I attended Miami University (Ohio not Florida) and studied business, but ended up transferring to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to study interior design and play club volleyball.

After college, I worked for a commercial architecture firm for about 4.5 years and primarily focused on Higher Education. My main projects included Creighton University – School of Dentistry and Creighton University – Health Education Alliance in Phoenix. Throughout these projects I found my passion for furniture. I realized that although the walls, floors, and ceilings were the building blocks of a building, the furniture was the key element that the users interact and perform their everyday tasks on.

On a more personal note, last January my fiancé and I moved to Overland Park to start our lives together after doing long distance for 3 years and we love it here so far! We have season tickets to the Sporting games, and we enjoy exploring the city, playing golf, hanging out with friends, and trying out new restaurants. We are also getting married May 2nd! I’m not sure if I’m more excited to marry my best friend or to get my wedding present (kidding…sort of), a PUPPY. I’m a huge dog lover 😊 When I’m not obsessing over every dog that walks by, I enjoy playing volleyball, baking, shopping, and crafting.
