Hello everyone! I want to start by saying thank you to the Scott Rice team for being so welcoming and helpful during my first few weeks.
I am Makenzi Utter, a senior Marketing major at the University of Kansas. I was drawn to study marketing because I love working with others and using creativity to promote products and form relationships both in the workplace and with customers. Every day has been different so far working with the SR Marketing Team- whether it be going through photos for upcoming projects, creating content for Social Media, or planning company events, it keeps me on my toes and I am always excited to see what’s next!
I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. I am the middle child between two brothers, aged 24 and 18. My dad, Jeff Utter, works at Scott Rice as well in Commercial Installation and Construction! I grew up in a Jayhawk-loving household, so it was no surprise I ended up studying there. Rock Chalk, am I right? I adore Lawrence and KU, but Kansas City will always be considered home. Some of my favorite memories growing up are summers in KC- First Fridays at the Crossroads, cheering on the Royals and Sporting KC, picnics in Loose Park, visiting the Nelson Atkins museum, and exploring new restaurants downtown are just a few of my favorite activities.
Outside of my studies at KU, I am also a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Through my membership, I’ve been able to meet many new people and get involved on campus through philanthropy events and volunteer opportunities. In my free time, I enjoy being active! I played competitive soccer for 14 years, so I love finding new ways to exercise now that I am done playing sports, such as yoga and kickboxing! I also spend a lot of free time with my friends, boyfriend, or my Chihuahua, Sheamus. He is 2 years old and too spoiled for his own good.
I am so exciting to be a part of the Scott Rice team this summer and look forward to expanding my education in Marketing through my experiences here!
