CELLIANT BY DESIGNTEX

What if our upholstery choices could help us regain some of the energy we lose throughout the day? Now featuring exclusive Celliant non-woven backing, Designtex introduces a new and versatile collection of fabrics engineered to boost performance and overall wellness benefits, suitable for a wide range of interior settings. Designtex Celliant is a proprietary textile backing clinically proven to harness and recycle a person’s energy. Improved circulation, better thermoregulation, and increased energy – naturally powered by the body.

What is Celliant?

Celliant is a responsive textile made with patented, cutting-edge fiber technology that incorporates a proprietary blend of thirteen thermo-reactive minerals. These minerals reflect naturally emitted infrared energy back to the user’s body to provide performance, health and wellness benefits. Celliant is a proven vasodilator that significantly improves blood circulation to increase oxygen levels and deliver vital nutrients to tissues throughout the user’s body. Celliant is one of the first infrared fiber technologies to be determined as both a medical device and a general wellness product. The FDA has determined that Celliant products are medical devices as defined in section 201(h) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and are general wellness products.

The science of sitting with Designtex Celliant

The science of sitting has been closely studied in recent years, with sedentary lifestyles linked to obesity and cardiovascular health. Doctors recommend we do what our bodies are built to do—move— though modern demands often keep us seated at our desks. Designtex Celliant upholstery supports an active working lifestyle by providing an upholstery solution that increases localized circulation within minutes of contact. You don’t have to sit all day to enjoy the wellness benefits of Celliant.

Celliant has been extensively researched, developed and clinically tested for both durability and effectiveness. Prominent institutions have conducted nine clinical trials to evaluate Celliant’s performance including University of California Irvine, University of Calgary, UCI Long Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Texas A&M University, Loyola University Chicago and Exponent. When applied as upholstery, Designtex Celliant textiles increase the user’s local blood flow by 8–10%. This proven boost in blood circulation provides benefits to the user such as increased energy, improved muscle recovery, and increased thermo-regulation to help keep the user’s body at an optimal temperature.

Made responsibly, made to last

Combining wellness, durability, and innovative design, the Designtex Celliant upholstery collection is made for versatile applications, and its wide-ranging benefits make it suitable for seating in a variety of settings. Whether used in an office, waiting area, theater, library, or patient room, Designtex Celliant upholstery enhances the everyday to bring a positive impact to your overall comfort and wellbeing.

All Designtex products with the Celliant non-woven backing have been tested in the laboratory for Transcutaneous oxygen (tcp02) to demonstrate temporary increase in blood flow to the user, and are shown to work within minutes of the user’s contact with the upholstery. For those who spend long periods of time sitting, blood flow increases, and benefits accrue over time.

All designs in the Designtex Celliant collection meet ACT contract textile standards and furniture application. The polyester fibers used in Celliant backing are made of 100% post-consumer recycled content. For all products in the Celliant collection, Designtex provides transparent ingredient information (HPDs), LEED documentation and carbon-neutral product shipments to the customer.

Embedded directly into the fibers, the Celliant technology is also made to last the lifetime of the upholstery it backs—making Designtex Celliant textiles an all-around sound investment for wellbeing and your budget.
