This year marked the 10 year anniversary of IIDA’s Color + Couture event at Starlight Theater.  The theme this year was “City Scapes” and focused on iconic KC buildings and monuments.  Scott Rice Office Works held the kickoff event in late August where we were paired with Ginger Carr to use Shaw Carpet materials.  The icon that Ginger selected from the city was the JC Nichols Fountain.

We were excited by the variety of materials we were given to work with and were able to incorporate various skills from different team members in this outfit.  The team worked for the past couple of months to develop a design that expressed this mighty and flowing structure.  With the help of hair and makeup by Belle Epoque, music, and stage lights we brought an interpretation of the fountain to life for one night!

Outfit description:

In a city known for its fountains, the JC Nichols Memorial Fountain is the most iconic backdrop of them all. Adorned with four mighty equestrian bronze sculptures, she is said to represent the 4 largest rivers of the world; her stunning structure and powerful form fashions a celebration of water affirming her as one of the most spectacular destinations in Kansas City.
