Hoops to Help is a new event sponsored by Scott Rice Office Works and select manufacturers to support charity. This year, our beneficiary will be Greensburg GreenTown, a nonprofit organization established to provide the residents of Greensburg, with the resources, information and support they need to rebuild as a model green community following the tornado that destroyed their community last year. The event will be held at the new College Basketball Experience at the Sprint Center.
Teams of 6-8 will participate in six different events:
Beat the clock:
Try to make a game winning shot in a high-pressure situation, mirroring some of college basketball's greatest moments! Randomly lit disks on the floor indicate the positions for the team member to attempt their jump shots before the clock stops.
Shoot from downtown:
Team members hustle to make up to nine 3-point shots from different positions around the arc.
Drill free throw:
Attempt a free-throw practice drill and race against the clock to make as many free-throws as possible.
Team up 3-on-3 court:
Team up activity is a 3-on-3 court that is a homage to the street game On this court, teams can play 1-on-1, 2-on-2 or 3-on-3.
Make the pass:
Try to make different kinds of passes to score as many points as possible in a set amount of time. Passes are made toward a graphic treated wall depicting players ready to catch the pass. Sensors indicate targets and record accuracy.
Call the highlights:
Role-play sports announcing and do color commentary and post-game wrap up from a sports desk (modeled after the ESPN U desk) in a TV studio. Then vote to see who should be the next ESPN star!
Get together your team and sign up today, registration fee is $100/team. Team awards for teams that participate in all 6 events! There will also be individual Male/Female awards for each event! We highly encourage rounding up the rest of your organization to cheer you on! Everyone is welcome to watch and particpate in the open events, even if you aren't on a team! Look forward to a great evening of hoops, food, drinks and friends all in the name of charity! We hope to see you there!
