My name is Riley Estrada. I am from here in KC, grew up in Lee’s Summit, and I am the oldest of three siblings.

I graduated from Lee’s Summit North in 2011, and after high school moved to San Diego, CA. At this time I wanted to be a police officer and was not going to school. Somewhere along the line I decided I wanted to be an architect and started studying architecture at a community college where I was president of the Architecture Club. After a while I decided to transfer back home to the University of Central Missouri where I will graduate with a BFA in Interior Design this December. I have had many great opportunities since I have been at UCM including going to France, going to NeoCon, and being the president of the Interior Design Student Association this past year.

After I graduate I plan to attend KU’s architecture program to get my M-Arch degree. I am very passionate about design and how the built environment can influence the experiences of those that inhabit a space. I am also very passionate about sustainability and I’m excited about the future of sustainable technologies. At some point along the way I would like to obtain my LEED Green Associate certification. At this point I am just a sponge trying to soak up as much knowledge and experience that I can.

I’m a pretty avid mountain biker and enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities. I love to explore KC and check out cool bars and restaurants, and I go to a lot of concerts. I love to travel and go see iconic architecture, and I’ve even been to Frank Gehry’s, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s houses.  I really enjoy eating and spending time with family, and for this reason, Thanksgiving and The 4th of July are my favorite holidays.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to be an intern here at Scott Rice. I’ve had a blast so far and I look forward to learning as much as I can from all of you here.
